DELHI has emerged as the top eCommerce hub in the country closely followed by Mumbai, Jaipur, Bengaluru and Chennai in 2012, according to a census conducted by leading eCommerce platformeBay.
Electronics goods continue to dominate online shopping and hold 48 per cent share in domestic transactions followed by lifestyle categories ( 41 per cent), the survey said.
India’s eCommerce industry is currently at a nascent stage with a size of $ 800 million but is expected to grow rapidly to about $ 5 billion by 2015. According to the census, India has 4306 eCommerce hubs from all 28 states and seven Union Territories, a 30 per cent increase from 2011.
Technology products had the highest share of domestic purchases ( 47 per cent).
